PARADE ROUTE – NEW ROUTE THIS YEAR!   We will parade through Lafayette’s Downtown area on Saturday, January 26, 2008.  The new route is the same route that the Childrens Parade follows, but will end at Park San Souci.  We will line up in front of the Public Library on Lafayette Street, travel in front of the courthouse, turn left on Vermilion to Park San Souci, which is where the parade ends.  Registration and parade line up will be in front of the Public Library.  There will be a reviewing stand in front of Stan’s Bar and Grill.

 

REGISTRATION:  Pre-Registration to walk your dog in the parade is $25.00/dog.  Parade Day registration is $35.00/dog.  The entry fee includes the member (this is your dog) and one adult (18 yrs. or older) human escort and the option to buy one additional guest badge ($5.00).  We encourage pre-registration!  If you pre-register, please pick-up your badges at the pre-registration table on parade day.  All pre-registration must be postmarked by ________________.  Parade day registration begins at 12 noon.

 

Concessions and dog specialty items will be available.  Some specialty items include:  flags, dog beads, Krewe lapel pins.  For more information call Sally Burdette at 984-5446.

 

DRESS FOR SUCCESS!!!  COSTUME CONTEST WILL BEGIN AT 1.  We have made a few changes to the costume contest this year. We will have one winner for “Best Theme - PAWDI GRAS - 10 Years and Still Barking” and one winner for “Most Original.”  When judges have made their decisions, these 2 winners, groups or individuals, will move to the front of the parade.  All members and spectators (humans too) are encouraged to dress.  To participate in the costume contest you must be registered, checked in and have a parade badge.  You do not have to walk in the parade to participate in the costume contest, but YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED MEMBER.  Again, COSTUME CONTEST WILL BEGIN AT 1 Please be in your assigned paraded location.

 

PARADE ROUTE - In the past the parade rolled through Lafayette's  Oil Center.  We will use a different route in 2008.  The line-up will begin in front of the library and parade down Lafayette Street turn left on Vermilion and end at Park San Souci.  The NEW PARADE MAP which includes where to register and line up for the parade will be posted ASAP.  Thank you for your patience.
