Parade Guidelines

Registration/ Membership form must be completed and dues paid prior to walking in the parade.
Each dog MUST be escorted on a leash by someone at least 18 years of age. Each dog MUST have an escort – Example: if you have 2 dogs, then you must have 2 escorts that are at least 18 years of age.
Dogs must have current rabies certificate (proof of current Rabies Vaccine).
Escort is responsible for member’s discharge. YOU MUST SCOOP YOUR POOP! Ziplock bags will be available at the registration table.
Dogs must not be “in season”.
Dogs will be grouped according to size for the parade. Your dog must walk in its assigned place.
In accordance with the requirements of our insurance carrier, all dogs 75 lbs. and over and all Chows, Pit Bulls, and Rottweilers may be required to be muzzled; other dogs may be required to undergo a temperament test or be moved to a safe zone, if dog's displaying negative behavior
Costumes for dogs and humans are encouraged.
No display of political, controversial, or religious ideal is allowed.
Parade passes must be displayed in order to walk in parade.
No alcohol before or during the parade.
Please respect each dogs “space” (keep your dog a leash distance from other dogs).
No flex leads or shock collars.
Don’t forget to bring lots of throws for the parade. Guests viewing the parade will be ready to catch lots of Mardi Gras Doggie Loot! We encourage you to pull decorated wagons to carry your beads. NO EDIBLE THROWS!
Throws must be non-edible, non-religious, non-controversial, non-political, and contain no advertisement unless prior approval received from the Krewe. Approval may be obtained by calling Cheri Trowbridge @ 337-857-2769, prior to parade. The Board of Directors passed a motion (1/6/09) that will now allow for participants to throw items that display advertisements. A $500 fee will be charged for large non-motorized floats promoting a business. A $200 fee will be charged for individuals who wish to throw business related items. Royalty are also subject to these guidelines.
No motorized vehicles allowed unless approved by KDC prior to the parade.
Any dog displaying negative behavior may be asked to leave.
